Scientific Analog, Inc. is pleased to announce that its latest development release of XMODEL 2020.0221 now includes a set of new primitives that can model silicon photonics systems in SystemVerilog. These primitives correspond to the basic optical elements such as optical waveguides, phase shifters, laser sources, photodetectors, directional couplers, and ring resonators and filters. With these primitives, one can easily compose models for various on-chip wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) I/O links based on micro-ring resonators, Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZM), and electro-absorption modulators (EAM). What is most important is that the XMODEL's patented algorithms that enable fast and accurate simulation of analog circuit models within SystemVerilog are now extended to these silicon photonics elements and systems, enabling efficient verification of optical systems tightly-integrated with both analog and digital electronic circuits.
"I am so excited as this milestone proves that the XMODEL's approach is the right one not just for analog circuits but also for optical systems. I am proud to say that as of today, XMODEL is the only solution that can efficiently simulate photonics-electronics integrated systems all in SystemVerilog, " said Jaeha Kim, CEO and founder of Scientific Analog.
Scientific Analog, Inc. is a leading developer and provider of a mixed-signal simulator in SystemVerilog (XMODEL), automatic model generator (MODELZEN), and schematic-based design environment (GLISTER).
