Scientific Analog Donates XMODEL to Korean Universities

Scientific Analog, Inc. announced that it has donated 50 copies of XMODEL to the IC Design Education Center (IDEC) co-located in KAIST, Daejon, Korea on June 28, 2015.

XMODEL is a simulator that can verify analog/mixed-signal IC and systems. Yet, it operates on a purely digital simulator in an event-driven fashion, such as SystemVerilog.

IDEC explained that XMODEL is more accurate than the existing simulators yet is more than 100 times faster. Also, it can support statistical simulation such as bit-error rate analysis and analog-digital co-simulation.

Scientific Analog, Inc is founded by Prof. Jaeha Kim at Seoul National University, Korea. It is located in Palo Alto, CA, U.S.A. and develops analog/mixed-signal simulator called XMODEL. Kim said “it is essential that we keep educating young students for the continued progress of the semiconductor industry.”

IDEC has been supporting IC design and education for Korean universities for the last 20 years. It supports MPW IC fabrication, EDA tools, and various education programs. Director In-Cheol Park at IDEC said, “With XMODEL, we are now well equipped to educate engineers in this new smart SoC era.”
